In 2017, Jon and Tami were faced with some financial challenges. In order to save their primary home in San Diego County, Tami used her prior property management skills and decided to rent out bedrooms to cover the mortgage. At first it was just the bedrooms but after those were rented, she decided to convert the living, family and dining rooms totaling 6 bedrooms. This house hacking technique gave them the ability to maintain control of the home while maximizing rental income. Upon completion of all the renovations, Tami shared with her husband that she thought they could make a business out of house hacking. With little to no affordable housing in San Diego County, the timing for house hacking was right. And so it began ..... My House Hackers.
Meet the Sutters
Jon Sutter
Jon Sutter earned his PhD at Penn State and has worked as a BioChemist since 1999. Jon has been instrumental in the financing aspects of house hacking as well as in operations and management.
Tami VM Sutter
Tami began her real estate career in 1995 when she purchased her first home. By 2007, she had single handedly flipped 13 homes using seller financing, lease options and conventional financing methods. Tami completed her M.Ed in 2008
